Give The Counter Areas A Face Lift By Countertop Resurfacing
Over time almost every kitchen begins to show signs of aging and wear and tear. The aging is usually most apparent on the counter surfaces which endure a lot of punishment from normal daily use. Rather than suffering through an expensive and usually messy renovation, homeowners may well choose countertop resurfacing to give the kitchen area a face lift and restore these work surfaces to their former glory.
Resurfacing of a kitchen counter area is usually much more quickly done than a full remodeling or replacement job. Normally resurfacing can be done at a fraction of the cost of a remodeling project and can make an outstanding difference in the looks of the entire kitchen area. It is usually amazing what difference a gleaming set of stone countertops in place of the old laminate can make.
The means used to resurface a kitchen or bathroom counter depends of course upon the surface area and the type of material. Laminate countertops may be removed and a new surface applied relatively easy. The average do it yourself home improvement enthusiast may find it well within their capabilities.
However replacing the full laminate counter may not be necessary. There is an option where an epoxy like material is applied over a counter to seal it. Over the top of that material a solution which gives the appearance of stone or marble can be applied. This may be an option for the homeowner who wants to upgrade the rather drab laminate material without the cost of stone or marble counters.
While marble and granite counter surfaces are beautiful and can last for many years, the beauty and shine of these surfaces may be degraded during normal use. Even with the very best maintenance and all care taken, they eventually will need resurfacing or possibly repair. Normal wear and tear may be corrected by shaving a very thin layer from the stone and then polishing the surface. Once it is gleaming and new again, a sealant should be applied to keep this beautiful counter in top shape.
Butcher-block counters are beautiful and can endure for many years. However, after a few years the effects of everyday use may well begin to show even on these well-made counter surfaces. Resurfacing by professionals might include sanding the surfaces, replacing worn areas and reattaching loose tiles or blocks. This professional resurfacing and repair can extend the life of these expensive and beautiful counters by years and brighten up any kitchen area.
The countertops in a kitchen are intended to last but they also endure a lot of wear and tear even by the most careful of owners. Resurfacing can breathe new life into tired old counter areas not yet ready for a full replacement or maintain granite or stone surfaces in almost new condition. Resurfacing is a great option for any area with counters.
What do you think of that counter? Do you think you need countertop resurfacing? What about that kitchen sink? Copper kitchen sinks would be the best choice..
