Custom Kitchen Cabinets - Ideas For Your Kitchen Renovation Project

Kitchen cabinet replacement can be expensive, but it makes a nice change that can be a major improvement. Cabinets and cabinet doors come in a range of options in styles, designs and materials. Home improvement stores are great places to go for ideas. Some stores will make up a computer image that shows you your new kitchen look.

Take accurate measurements before shopping. This will save on planning and save you time overall. Measure appliance areas for the most accurate cost estimates and to get the best picture of the finished look.

To ensure a perfect fit you can often get a representative from the home improvement store to come and double check your measurements. This ensures everything is accurate so you do not buy the wrong size.

Options in Kitchen Cabinets

There are stock cabinets that come in standard sizes. You get some styles and color options, but they are somewhat limited than other cabinet options. You generally get a basic cabinet and drawer style. They are most often used in new constructed homes and are fairly inexpensive.

Semi custom cabinets come in standard sizes, but you've got more options re style, designs and storage decisions. There are way more color and wood varieties available. These are far more expensive than stock cabinets, but are often higher quality.

There are lots of different storage options available in semi custom cabinets. Take time to look at these before making a choice. A lazy Susan, wine rack, pull out garbage cans, vertical dividers for storing trays and pull out shelves make storing and organizing the kitchen way easier. Think about your life-style and the storage issues that are most pressing when making a choice.

Your most expensive, but highest quality option in custom cabinets. They are made to fit your kitchen. You choose the size, style and design of the cabinets and they are made according to what you want. You can choose the type of wood, which is usually very high quality. You will have someone come to your home and take measurements to ensure an exact fit. The designer will then work with you to design the cabinets.

Figure the Budget for Kitchen Cabinets

It is always smart to set a budget for your kitchen cabinet purchase before you ever go shopping. Figure out what you can and want to spend. The prices of stock, semi custom and customer cabinets vary greatly. You need to consider that. It is common practice that the kitchen cabinet budget is about half of your total kitchen remodel budget.

reflect on how long you will stay in your house when deciding on a budget. If you plan on moving in the next year or two, you may need to spend less. If you plan to stay for a number of years to come, you may want to go flat out for the custom kitchen.

Kitchen cabinets are not something that you should sacrifice to save money. Look for cabinets that will work for you. Try out the cabinets that are in the showroom to see if you like them. Look for good construction. Make sure they are something that will last.
