Which Types Of Kitchen Cabinet Should You Buy For Your New Kitchen?
When you are designing, decorating or redesigning your kitchen, one of the most important aspect is building or buying new kitchen cabinets. However with the many types out there, how do you know which one is the best for your own cooking space?
First of all there are two main types available nowadays: European styles and traditional styles. Once you've decided which style is best for you, you also need to figure out whether you want a custom, stock or even a custom modular one. When you're in the store buying your cupboards, it is best to discuss the details with the sales person as they are knowledgeable and can help you out. One way to get ideas about what you would like to have in your cooking space is to visit a few kitchen cabinet showroom in the area, or even some galleries of sellers and manufacturers on the internet.
When it comes to choosing between the European or the traditional styles for your kitchen cabinets, there are some dominant differences that you need to be aware of. The European style is a newer type that has only entered the US after the second World War. The traditional style is common to the US for many years. You might actually know the two styles under different names. The traditional style is also called frameface, and the European style is called frameless cabinet.
With the frameface cabinet style, you can use lower quality materials for the sides since the frame can easily hide that cheap material from view. The problem is, however, that the frame is using additional space that you could use otherwise. Also you have here a smaller front opening so when designing this cabinet, the shelves and drawers have to be made smaller in order to properly fit.
When it comes to the European cabinet styles, their space is really best used due to them lacking that extra frame. Also this cabinet is smaller than the other style, so it can be very easily added to any part of the kitchen with a bit of extra space available. The cabinet has a rather narrow strip that covers the edge of the panel, so when the door is actually closed, you don't see the hinges, which is a major benefit (it looks much better this way). These cabinets are available in standard sizes, so you can use and add any regular kitchen cabinet organizers since they will fit in nicely. This is actually one reason why many homeowners prefer them to the traditional style.
