Ways To Choose Between Different Coffee Makers

Coffee makers are found in many homes, but few people know that there are differences between different types. There are 4 standard models, all with slight differences in product. The following is to help make the right decision on what you want.

The Automatic Drip

This machine functions by heating water poured into the top and forcing it to drip down through a filter filled with coffee grounds. The coffee then drips into the pot below, which rests on a heating plate to keep it warm. This method is quick and can produce multiple cups of coffee at once, so there is little to no wait time between cups.

Single Serve

This kind can only make one cup at a time, but it is very quick and requires minimal cleanup afterward. The coffee grounds are sold in pre-measured packs and there are many flavors to choose from. One pack is placed in the labelled area and water is added, brewing quick and easy coffee. Of course, the fact that it only makes one cup may be a disadvantage for some.

Percolator

This machine is available in many different sizes, and can either be purchased to be used on a stovetop or to be plugged into an outlet. This allows for a lot of variety for different types of kitchens. One sets a basket of coffee grounds just above where the water is. The water heats up, forcing its way through thin tubes into the basket of grounds and out the other side, back down to the bottom.

The French Press

For a coffee aficionado, this may be considered the best kind due to the richness of flavor it creates. The grounds and water are in contact the whole time as they are both placed in the pot. A plunger pushes the grounds to the bottom of the pot and the finished coffee then rises back to the top.

There are many various types of coffee makers. All produce an adequate product, but it is up to you to choose which one is best for you.
