How Can I Change My Kitchen to Make It Healthier for My Family?
The Jack Lalane Juicer is the cream of the crop when it comes to juicers. Using a juicer is a great way to get more raw vegetables into your diet. When vegetables are raw, they contain more of the natural plant enzymes that have been proven to be so beneficial to you. Trying to eat enough of them every day can be a problem. Juicing is the best alternative. You just drink a small glass and you're good for the day.
If you have a choice between plastic or stainless steel appliances go with the stainless steel. Plastics are composed of ultra refined petroleum based ingredients. Over the years, some of the plastic will break down and release byproducts into whatever it comes in contact with. You would not want any of that in your food.
Healthy homes prefer glass containers over plastic ones. This is because of the plastic's properties. Glass doesn't have the petroleum based properties that could allow some seepage of unwanted byproducts into your stored food. Glass containers are usually very smooth and easier to clean. Food particles have a much harder time sticking inside of containers made of glass as most of the other ones. Cleaner containers means less bacteria growing on the particles left behind after you wash them.
Look inside the kitchen of a health conscious family and you might see a food dehydrator. Dehydrating allows you to store the nutrient rich foods that you love to snack on without cooking away all of the really beneficial ingredients of the food. If you have healthy things to snack on, it will be a lot easier to watch what you eat when hunger strikes. Why not make it simpler to stick to a healthy diet?
Some healthy homes keep purified or filtered water on hand. You can install a central water filtration system for the whole house or just put one under your kitchen sink. If you're not into projects, you can just get yourself a pitcher with the filter in it. Water filtering is one of the simplest ways a person can upgrade the health of a kitchen. It is an easy way to reduce you family's exposure to toxins.
If you visit the kitchen of a truly healthy person, you are likely to come across one or two really good cookbooks. It is relatively easy to learn which foods are really good for us and which aren't. What is not so easy is figuring out enough different ways of preparing them to keep them interesting. Families will get sick of eating the same old strict meals every week. You've got to find a way to add variety. Cookbooks are a great tool for doing this. Somebody else has already spent the time to find out what food combination's work well together. Why not take their advice?
A food processor could drastically reduce the time necessary to prepare certain types of food. If you are making lots of soups or casseroles, having an electric gadget to do some of the slicing will make meals much less of a chore to prepare. Buying one of these food processors is money well spent.
