Are Folgers Coffee Pods Right For You?
When a company as big as Folgers starts making them, coffee pods have truly come of age. Even if they're not your favorite brand, if you drink coffee, you know the name Folgers. Let's look at how Folgers Coffee Pods compare to some other brands, including those that are quite a bit more popular, even if the companies themselves are smaller. We'll also check out any other single cup Folgers coffees that are out there.
Who Is Folgers?
Folgers is in no way new. You can't get any more American than a company founded in San Francisco way back in 1850. From the very beginning, the whole point was shipping out ground, roasted, and labeled tins of coffee, ready for the pot. It stands to reason that Folgers coffee would show up in coffee pods. Two other very American companies, Proctor and Gamble and The J M Smucker Company have owned Folgers at different times.
Folgers In Your Pod Coffee Maker
It's a good bet that Folgers coffee pods will work just fine in your coffee pod machine. Folgers says their pods work the system called Home Cafe. Though the Home Cafe name is owned by Bunn, it has come to be the standard when it comes to coffee pods. Be wary when ordering, though. A few of the products used by Folgers can be easily confused. If you're looking for pods that are compatible with most pod coffee makers, be sure to purchase Folgers Pods, or at least make sure that Home Cafe is listed somewhere on the label.
Folgers And Other Single Cup Coffees
Folgers Singles is the only other single cup coffee that Folgers makes. They are most definitely not intended to be used with coffee pod makers. They don't fit coffee pod machines at all, and are really a lot more like tea bags with coffee in them than anything. If you do not want, or cannot afford a coffee pod brewer, though, Singles are an excellent way to get Folgers coffee by the cup. Since Folgers has already gotten behind the Home Cafe name, they do not, and probably will not make K-Cups or T-Discs of any kind. Although Folgers would certainly not endorse this use, though, some have claimed to have discovered a way that they can force these coffee pods into working with the Keurig machines.
How Does Folgers Compare To Other Coffee Pods?
As far as cost goes, Folgers Coffee Pods are not the cheapest, but the reviews suggest they are worth it. Folgers has always been well known for making coffee that was on the stronger side, so in coffee pod form, that should work quite well for them. There's no word of any Folgers cappuccino or espresso coffee pods, though, so don't look for Folgers unless you're only interested in standard or decaffeinated pods.
